Gold has been classified as a strategic mineral of interest by the Government of Zambia and the recent gold occurrences in various parts of the country has prompted government to take a keen interest in the activities in these areas. As a key first step to participating in the gold sub-sector, ZCCM-IH was mandated by Cabinet to explore and develop the gold sub-sector in order to ensure that the minerals are exploited to the maximum benefit of the state and the people of Zambia. ZCCM-IH has also identified gold as a strategic mineral resource which is key to driving the company forward in the years to come. It is with this background that ZCCM-IH and the Ministry of Finance (“MOF”) incorporated Zambia Gold Company Limited (“ZGCL”) to spearhead and manage gold mining activities in Zambia.

Zambia Gold Company is a mining company, focused on gold exploration and production in Zambia and charged with countrywide mandate to drive the formalization and growth in the gold sector. Its core business includes gold exploration, mining, processing, marketing and value addition.
